A study at the University of Melbourne suggests that a quick Twitter post at work is good for you and the business. Researchers found that employees who browsed the Internet while at work for less than 15 percent of their workday (yes perpetual Facebook checks don’t actually help your performance — everything in moderation) were 9 percent more productive than coworkers who didn’t browse the ‘net at all.
The study authors say the quick surfing and mini-breaks it provides may actually restore concentration. The more enjoyable the break is — think watching an epic YouTube clip versus online banking – the more productive the employee will be.
